World's Largest Fountain

As most of you know, my wife (together with my mother-in-law, aunt and our friend,Kate) visited me last weekend.

IMG_2464

The picture above was Fountain of Wealth at Suntec City. This shot was taken not by me but my wife. It's the World's Largest fountain, and as you can see, they project images to the fountain. It's pretty cool.

The Merlion

IMG_32771

This is the merlion at sentosa. Due to bad weather and lack of time, we were unable to visit the real merlion. But, this one's pretty cool 'cause during the musical fountain show, its eyes beamed green laser lights!

Night lights

nitesaf1

I took this picture at the night safari. Yeah, I know, where are the animals? I intended to take picure of the animals during the show but, we were forced to sit at left most part of the amphitheater as they reserved the middle part for a group of tourist from china and india.

I see you

I just find this elevator interesting, with the see through walls and doors. I guess risque couples can't do their thing here, ehehehe.

HDB Nightshot

IMG_2227

Here's a night shot of the neighborhood where I'm currently staying. It's my longest exposure yet, at 130 seconds.

Tomorrow, my wife is visiting me, so expect a lot of tourist-y shots. We'll be going to the usual places, Sentosa, Suntec City, Clark Quay, Jurong Birdpark, Singapore Zoo and some shopping in between (if our pockets can handle it). Stay Tuned!

HDB

IMG_17781

This is the HDB where I'm currently staying. I've been very busy with my work, I have some audit stuff going on plus the security issues. So, I have no time to take pictures. My wife will visit me this friday, so bear with my pictures till friday.

Here's another shot...

At last I was able to connect using my home broadband. It seems that we are overloading our broadband especially during weekend.

Here is another shot taken last Saturday at the Asia Pacific Dance competition. I don't have the list of all the winner, but from what my Ninong (Godfather) told me, one of the Filipino group won first prize in their category. Posted by Picasa

Asia-Pacific Dance Competition

cropped_1

My former boss, Sir Tony, went here to Singapore to see his daughter perform in a dance competition. I'm thrilled to see him again and he invited me to join him to watch his daughter dance. I'll be starting a series of these shots for this week.

Another Macro Shot

I still don't know what is the name of this flower but whenever I go out of our apartment, I always want to take picture of it.

i envy them...

Isn't it nice if you are good in drawing? All you need is a pencil and a sketch pad, and you will be able to capture the moments. But drawing is something that I really can't do. I can't even write legibly. That's why I envy them so much.

Macro Series

cropped

I'm now in Macro mode, I've been practicing close-up shots since yesterday. This flower is called bougainvillea. We have a lot of this back home too in Manila. They are shrubs/vines with beautiful flowers. They do have thorns though, that's why back home, we mainly plant this near our fence to ward of intruders, hehe. Isn't it cool for a plant to be used for protection as well as for aesthetic reasons?

For you ...

IMG_1312

"PANGANDARAN, Indonesia -- Rescuers Tuesday desperately sifted through wreckage for survivors of a tsunami that killed more than 340 people and left scores missing when it slammed into Indonesia’s Java coast."

I got this news clip from an online newspaper. It made me realize that while I'm whining about my job, others are facing a different kind of problem, definitely much more difficult than mine. While I find it hard not to see my loved ones everyday, others have to let go of theirs.

I dedicate this picture to them. For showing courage, for not giving up, for being an inspiration to others.

Another look at Chijmes

190901795_a9c640c8cc_b1

I wonder if catholics pass by this building and do the sign of the cross. That's probably what my wife would do, hehe. This is still Chijmes, the former convent turned dining-shopping-entertainment site. According to the site, it took five and a half years of painstaking restoration to create this shoppers' and diners' paradise.

In Black and White

chimes

This is CHIJMES (pronounced "Chimes"). It is actually a restored chapel turned into a hang-out center. One of the popular bars for Filipinos, Insomnia, can be found inside.

Late post..

IMG_0552

I was having a problem connecting to my internet service provider at home that's why this post was a little late.
This is one of the statues found near Telok Ayer Street. I find it fascinating because the statue shows that during the early days, the people in this area used to be fishermen. Today, all you see in this area are high rise buildings, hawker centers and cars. Here is another shot of the statues.

The Fullerton Hotel

fullerton_hotel

This is the Fullerton Hotel. It's a 5-star hotel right in the heart of the civic district. I wonder when I'll be able to stay for a night here. More info about the hotel here.

p.s. Thank you for your very kind comments! I take night shots because that's the only time of the day (during weekdays) that I can to shoot. I'll probably have daytime shots tomorrow.

...nightshot series

bridge

here's a beautiful bridge crossing the Singapore River. I'm still practicing my night shots. I do need to get a better tripod, the 'free' one that came with my camera is too flimsy. That's my camera bag in the lower right corner. Will crop that one out later, hehe.

Do you want to ride a balloon?

IMG_0265

I had a previous post about this ballon here. I thought about riding the balloon, to take a bird's eye view of Singapore but decided against it. A friend told me that I will not be able to take a good picture due to the safety harness.

Another night shot

IMG_0672

Here is another night shot! This picture shows two building, the Peninsula Plaza and The Raffles Tower. If you are looking for a second hand camera and accessories, then I suggest Peninsula Plaza. There are good second hand shops there.

The Raffles Tower, I believe this is where Edwin stayed the last time he visited Singapore.

..taxi!!!

eos30 001

my wife likes the taxis here because 1) drivers don't perpetually 'choose' their passengers 2) drivers give out the receipt AND the exact change and 3)taxis are pretty well-maintained and roomy.. (it's a relief from the taxis back home in Manila) it's a bit pricey though, so i usually stick to the MRT.

White House

This is Singapore's version of White House. But it is not where the President nor the Prime Minister stays. Interesting to note is that The White House is a block away from Red Dot's Building.

When the sun sets...

fweb_0001_1

This is how the city looks when the sun sets. I took the picture near Singapore river, just outside The Esplanade theather.

Are you real?

Honestly, I dont know if this is a real person or just a statue. He looks real but for more than 10 minutes I was there, he has not moved a single muscle.

I took the picture from one of the shops in Telok Ayer Street, near the China Square.

Free Postcards

The postcards are just announcements or ads but it is nice to get some since most of the postcards have a nice design. And its free!

I never had a chance to thank Edwin for the little chat we had last Friday. Maraming Salamat Edwin, I'll return the favor in the future by visiting KL.

Famous Butt

This is the most famous butt in Orchard last saturday. And definitely a head-turner. I found this Lamborghini last saturday at the atrium of Paragon Centre (or Mall). They are having an exibit about expensive things. This car suddenly became a camera magnet as you can see most people from the 1st and 2nd floor of the mall will bring out their camera and take its picture.

Here is the full view of the car.
